A Day in Jackson Hole: Artisanal Pastries, Street Music & Mountain Lodge Charm
After checking out of Togwotee Mountain Lodge, we headed straight to Jackson Hole, eager to explore the town's unique blend of Western charm and modern flair.
Morning at Persephone Bakery
Our first stop was Persephone Bakery, a local favorite known for its artisanal pastries and rustic-chic ambiance. We indulged in Persephone Bakery’s flaky croissants, a hearty sweet potato and Brussels sprout hash, traditional eggs, toast, and bacon, and a refreshing iced café au lait, making it the perfect Jackson Hole breakfast experience. The bakery's rustic yet elegant design, combined with its high-quality baked goods, made it a delightful start to our day.
Exploring Jackson Hole Town Square
Refueled and ready to explore, we wandered through Jackson Hole Town Square, admiring the iconic elk antler arches and vibrant local art. Our son had a spontaneous performance on the public piano outside of the Jackson Hole Public Art center, adding a touch of unexpected joy to our visit.
Unique Shops and Taxidermy Finds
The town is home to several unique shops, including Jackson Mercantile, where we found an impressive collection of taxidermy animals. From bears to birds, these displays offered a glimpse into the region's rich wildlife heritage.
Lunch at Whole Foods
For lunch, we stopped by Whole Foods, where we grabbed a selection of fresh, healthy options to enjoy on the go. The store's variety and quality made it a convenient choice for a midday meal.
Afternoon at The Virginian Lodge
Our final destination was The Virginian Lodge, a beautifully renovated motor lodge that blends midcentury furnishings with rustic charm. The lodge features an expansive pool, two oversized hot tubs, and several fire pits, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests.
The kids enjoyed the pool and lawn games, while we relaxed by the fire pits, soaking in the mountain views. The on-site restaurants, including Billy's Burgers and The Virginian Saloon, offered delicious meals and drinks, adding to the lodge's appeal.
Reflecting on Our Jackson Hole Experience
Our stay at The Virginian Lodge was the perfect way to conclude our Yellowstone and Jackson Hole adventure. The blend of comfort, convenience, and charm made it a memorable experience. If we had one regret, it would be not spending more than one night here. It's a place we'd love to return to in the future.
The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast at The Virginian Lodge, dropped our trusty rental car off at Thrifty, and then took the shuttle back to the Jackson Hole Airport — easily one of the most convenient and scenic airports we’ve ever used.
